TAMRYN WAINWRIGHT

SOCIAL MEDIA MARKETER | CONTENT CREATOR

About Me

I’m Tamryn Wainwright. I’m twenty-two years old. I was born and raised in Johannesburg and have been living in Cape town Stellenbosch for the last 4 years. Currently this year I’ve been studying a course in creating digital content at Red and Yellow. I specialize in copy and content creation. I’ve made all sorts of work this past year and have been able to explore my creativity as well as my strengths and work on my weaknesses. I’ve taken pictures and produced content for social media, created a website come up with concepts for brands, and produced podcasts. I’d say my strengths and skills definitely tie-up with who I am as a person I’ve always had a wild imagination and have loved to tell stories. Thus I believe my strengths lie in coming up with fun creative content as well as in copy.

My most memorable moment at Red and Yellow this year despite the COVID 19 pandemic would definitely have to be when we worked on a campaign for Aware.org that could potentially have been entered into the Louries I loved our concept and just the whole brief in general. Some of my hopes and dreams in the future would be to definitely use the skills I’ve learned and my creativity outside Red and Yellow and to hopefully open up my own business one day. I’m so grateful to Red and Yellow as I’ve truly been able to explore and enhance my creativity this year and I’m so excited to see where it takes me in the future.

What does creativity mean to you? When asked the question of what does creativity means to me I couldn’t give a straight generic answer off of the top of my head as the word creativity can mean so many things to different people. People get creative with how or what they cook, in their gardens, in their homes, in their writing in their artwork there are just so many different ways in which we can express how creativity. Thus creativity is an incredibly personal thing and is far more than just arts and crafts. Creativity is all about being inspired, using your imagination and ideas to create something. We use our creative thinking skills every day of our lives to problem solve without even knowing it. Sometimes we can find it hard to channel this thinking intentionally though so here are some great tips on how to do that.

A great way to get inspired and get creative is to change things up get out of your comfort box and your norms and change your daily routine and the way you look at the world. Changing your perspective on things is a great way to open up your mind to new ideas and thoughts which may inspire your creativity.

It’s a good idea to document things, take pictures, collect things and keep souvenirs. When looking back on these things it can inspire creativity as the things around us, the things we experience, and the things we see have an impact on us. As ultimately it is the world around us that inspires us.

Get your head out of your phone. Social media is the biggest distraction and can cause you to lose focus, procrastinate and just be a downright vegetable while you mindlessly scroll through your phone. This will not stimulate you to be creative or productive at all. Turn your phone off and go outside.

Be open-minded, say yes more than no, take every opportunity as they come. Having a positive outlook on life and being open-minded won’t only just allow you to be creative and get inspired but will also open you up to amazing opportunities as well as grow you as a person.

Social Media Writing

This brief we got to partner up with the Graphic Designs students. The brief was to come up with an awareness campaign for aware.org for underage drinking. I loved the concept we came up with of how parents don’t realise that you are your children hero’s and they see what you do and want to do it too. It came out so well. I worked with Caitlin Goodwin and Kyle de Bruyn.

Podcast

Back seat driving with Benjy and Sheena Podcast series:

This was by far my favourite brief we had to make some podcasts episodes from a concept from a previous brief as well as a trailer. I created a proudly South African podcast with two hosts telling their stories of their adventures through our beautiful country. I’ve also created an Instagram account for the podcast.
