About me

Brand Challenge

As part of Red&Yellow’s annual Brand Challenge, I was placed in a multi-disciplinary team where we had to come-up with a campaign for African Bank’s MyWORLD account. The campaign had to improve their current user engagement within the MyWORLD account.
I focused on their digital products, specifically the Africa Bank App, and looked for pain points that could have been causing the lack of user engagement.
My research led me to discover some critical design flaws and helped me develop prototypes to showcase our solution.
Our marketing campaigns main message was:
“Families are complicated but banking doesn’t have to be.” #WeGetFamily
Our campaign ended up winning the African Bank Brand Challenge Brief.

Independent Study

This was a self initiated brief where we were expected to find a real-life problem that could be solved through a digital solution. My brief focused on the need for a digital platform for Private Shuttle Services that couldn’t operate on platforms like Uber or Bolt because their business models weren’t catered for on these sites. I conducted extensive design & user research in-order to determine what shuttle users would want from such a supporting platform. And once design recommendations were identified, iterative user testing was conducted in-order to produce high-fidelity prototypes of my solution.

Information Architecture

This was an individual assignment where I had to improve Open Music Archive’s Information Architecture so that the site could better reach its business goals and user needs.
User & Design research methods were used in-order to gain more understanding about the site’s current state. This included looking at the types of users on this site, their information seeking behaviours, as well as how user-friendly the site was with regards its navigational elements.
After these insights were discovered a new site structure as well as supporting high-fidelity wireframes was created.

User Interface Design

Between 10&5 is a digital publishing platform that showcases South African creatives across a broad range of categories like graphic design, advertising, fashion, film, photography and music. Since its launch in 2008, its interface has become quite dated making navigation and user engagement difficult.
In a team of UCD students, we were given two weeks to redesign Between10&5 website’s interface ( the version prior to August 2020) . We applied different user & design research methods like Usability testing,Heuristics evaluations as well as persona development to identify key problem areas. These insights were then used along with the various Gestalt design principles to develop a new prototype of the website.
