ANDREA ROSSOUW

GRAPHIC DESIGNER | ILLUSTRATOR | COPYWRITER

I’m an Illustration major with a Graphic Design minor and a love for Adobe Illustrator. I aim to capture a sense of my detailed, quirky imagination within the work I create, focusing on caricatures, story-telling and digital illustration.

I consider myself to be a fast worker and a quick learner, while remaining a certified plant mom with a love for cats. My favourite colour is yellow because it reminds me of sunshine and I tend to use hair-dye to solve my problems.

In the future, I hope to be more mindful, happier and well-rested while continuing to keep good company.

About me

Flip The Future

Create a campaign for Zip Zap Social Circus that is appropriate to their provided budget. The aim of this campaign is to get local and international conscious consumers who are passionate about social upliftment and youth development to increase their monthly monetary donations by conveying to them how Zip Zap equips and empowers the youth for the future through social performance arts.

Create a series of illustrated merchandise about a localised issue that you do not personally relate to / that impacts a community that you are not a part of. There must be a minimum of 3 illustrations for 3 pieces of merchandise in total.

The merchandise is being created to be sold or given to people, so the products must be something desirable. To add to this, a brand name and a simple logo must also be designed for these pieces.

Engage with the subject matter critically and honestly. The merchandise should inspire discussion and change for your chosen issue in a funny, hopeful and engaging manner.

Create a 20-page e-book following a post-human story as expressed in a non-linear manner. Make use of mixed media while incorporating post-human themes into elements of interactivity, such as through GIFs and audio clips.

Start by re-imagining South Africa in a post-human setting, and ensure that the novel follows a wordless narrative that relies more on instinct than a linear storyline. Publish the final novel as an interactive e-pub.

Create and answer your own brief while ensuring that there is a clear link between the brief you have made and your visual studies and marketing submissions.

Consider the target audience, being Third Culture Kids (individuals who have spent developmental years in a country or society different to that which their parents originated from) and how to give them a sense of belonging upon their repatriation.

The solution must look to celebrate them and their traits rather than to further isolate them from their peers and consist of 3 varying touch points.

Develop a game design for a new multiplayer game that prioritizes building connections between people. Consider new ways for players to communicate with one another while keeping the platform they would use to engage with the game and each other in mind.

Focus on the multiplayer aspect of the game, how to create a unique gaming experience and how players could communicate with each other within the game. The target audience (Xbox gamers aged 25-34 years old and PC gamers aged 18-24) must be strongly considered.

Creative collaborators for this assignment include Danielle Herbst (Digital Design and animation), Max Whitehead (Illustration and original line work) and Allison Brennan (Illustration and original world design, character colouration).
